About the course

A four-week evening basketry class, where you will learn how to make your own log basket. 

New for this year, the Basket Club is aimed at those who've alreaby been on one one of my workshops before and would like to delve further, or for those new to willow weaving who'd like a more in-depth introduction to basketmaking. Each week, I will show you a different stage of basketry: the base, staking up, side weave, and border. By the end of the four weeks, you will have made your own round log basket to take home with you. 

The evening classes will take place on the following days, from 6pm-8.30pm: 2nd October, 9th October, 16th October and 23rd October. Please note, you will need to be able to attend all four sessions in order to complete your basket. 

About the venue

The workshop will take place in my studio at Maws Craft Centre in Jackfield, Shropshire. You'll get a chance to have a look around my workshop, including some of my stock items, commissions, work in progress, and my mini-library of weaving books.

Maws Craft Centre is a bustling creative hub with lots of artist studios and gallery spaces, located down the river from Ironbridge. You can also explore further afield, and go for an evening walk along the River Severn and take in the spectacular views of the historic Ironbridge Gorge.

Details

• This course is suitable for beginners and over-16s. No previous experience is necessary.
• The group size is limited to 5 to ensure that all course participants can get 1:1 support from the course tutor.
• All tools and materials are included.
