Brigid is the Celtic Goddess of fertility, childbirth, creativity, fire, arts and crafts.
In Celtic tradition, Brigid Crosses (otherwise known as Sun Wheels) were hung above the entrance of dwellings at Imbolc, which marks the midway point between the winter solstice and spring equinox.
It is believed that Brigid would bless the homes with Sun Wheels; bringing protection, good health and fortune, and warding off disease, bad spirits and hunger.
